Furniture Trends: The Colour Green

Gemstone colours, particularly in lush velvet fabrics, were prevalent earlier in the year but green in particular is really shaping up to be the colour of 2018, we explore what's behind the trend.

Colour case study: Going green at Drake & Morgan

Fusion DNA frequently use the colour green in their schemes for Drake and Morgan to create their signature escapes from the everyday. Going green at Drake & Morgan My Chair The Listing by Drake & Morgan The Pantone colour of the year is ultra violet, but where chairs are concerned we’ve seen lush gemstone shades with green in particular shining through.

As green is a harmonic colour it brings a sense of calm and serenity. This makes it the perfect colour for city dwellers looking to unwind after a day in the office who are exactly the target audience at the heart of the Drake & Morgan brand. Green can also rejuvenate and restore as it gives the feeling of being connected to nature.

The Listing features Strike Armchairs in Green Dvoy by Osborne & Little with Futura Selvaggio Verde seat & back leather.

As shown in the design for The Listing the use of green is closely connected to the rise in botanical fabrics and plants as an integral part of hospitality design. This is also linked to the popularity of biophilic design which aims to connect humans to nature to improve their health and well-being. When combined with the other nature evoking materials such as oak, brass & copper tables & leathers in saddle tones all that’s needed is D&M’s signature faux animal throws to create a comfortable oasis of earthy delights.
